Get your credit report to know where you stand!

There are 3 major credit bureaus,Equifax , TransUnion and Experian.  Your first step is to figure out what they are saying about you. It is highly possible that they all have different opinions as to the status of your credit. You see, the people you are possibly in the bad books for (creditors) don't have to report to all three credit bureaus.  What they end up doing is they typically report only to the credit bureau to which they also subscribe. An important point to keep in mind is that if you've been denied credit, insurance or employment because of your credit report, you are entitled to a free copy of your report from the reporting agency. All you have to do is ask the agency that you have been refused service from because of your credit to supply the credit bureau's name, address and telephone number. You can request your copy within 60 days of receiving the denial notice.
