Credit Card Debt Settlement Program

April 29th, 2009 by debt

If a debt settlement program claims that they can approve you without first being able to take a look at the state of your current financial affairs then this is another red flag that you should be on the look out for. A good debt settlement company will want to take a look at your complete financial history and credit profile in order to see exactly what sort of shape that you are in. Just handing this information to any company does not make it so that you must go with them and it is important to keep in mind that this is all apart of finding the best possible help for your own particular situation. This is a quite important step in the process because if you owe money to more than one company then they are of course going to end up settling your debt with different costs that are typically dependant upon the company that you are working with and the history that they have with them as well as your current financial situation and exactly how much debt you in the hole with them. If a company contacts you and does not care about these details then it would be very wise to go about finding yourself a different company to go about going with.

The next part of the credit card debt settlement process involves approval or the qualification of your application with the debt settlement program that you are applying to. This is a very important part of the process because it shows that the company is commited to only taking on the consumers that they will truely be able to help and will allow for you to have the best possible help in order for you to become a happy client of theirs. If the debt settlement company that you have sought out pretty much approves just about anyone that applies then you can be rest assured that they are just looking to make money off of the fees that they charge and have no real intentions on giving you the best possible help for your own unique situation. The chances are that these debt settlement companies will not be able to help you since as described above there are certain requirements involved with being able to get the help you need from a debt settlement company.

Once you find yourself being approved for a debt settlement program than you are going to be able to figure out exactly how much your total monthly payment is going to run you as well as for how long you are going to have to be paying it off to be debt free. The Debt Settlement and Debt Elimination Program that really have good success will usually aim to have you debt free in the span of three to four or so years typically. Each creditor is going to have a period of time where they will allow you to settle up on your outstanding debt because in their eyes it is much better to get something rather than nothing and have them risk you filing for bankruptcy and oweing them nothing as a result of that. If a company tells you that it will take you longer than three or four years to be fully paid off on your outstanding debt than you are going to want to go with another company because you are goign to end up risking a lot more the longer it takes for you to clear up your outstanding debt the more likely they will take legal action against what you owe them in order for them to get paid.

Now that you have gone about the process of picking the best possible debt negotiation service that can help you and your unique situation you are presented with the time where it really matters. You really need to make sure that you pay your monthly payment on time each and every month for the duration of the program and if you are at all able to make more than the minimum monthly payment then you absolutely have to do so. The goal is to pay off the outstanding debt that you currently have in as quickly of a time period as possible and only making the minimum monthly payments will ensure that you are in this program for a couple of years down the line. Stay in contact with your debt settlement company and forward them anything that you recieve from your outstanding creditors so that they are fully aware of your evolving debt situation. Make sure that you stay on track and you will in no time find yourself completely debt free and will be able to once again start with a clean slate.

About your credit score… yes it does go down, however you forgot to mention that when you start your credit card debt, your score will go back up. Why because one third of your score is based upon how much debt you actually owe.
